“Cigarettes After Dark” is a dreamy indie-pop song built on haunting guitars, shimmering synths, and a distinctly modern electronic edge — all anchored by Selen Korkutan’s stunning, sultry lead vocal.
Loosely inspired by Patrick Modiano’s In the Café of Lost Youth, the song aches with longing for forgotten people, vanished places, and the ghosts of lost love. The release is accompanied by a striking music video directed by Turkish artist and videographer Deniz Cizmeci. Shot across the streets of Istanbul, the film captures Selen’s presence with hypnotic intimacy, weaving themes of memory and desire into Data.Soul’s evolving visual identity.
